Hannover does not only have a tradition-conscious university, the city also has broad leisure and cultural programs. The following link provides general information on your new place of study.   

Applied Linguistics and Special Languages (FSZ)

The FSZ offers the courses “German as a foreign and technical language” and subject-specific courses for international students. Subject-specific foreign language skills are being taught. For international students seeking university entry, courses specific to the DSH examination are offered.

Registration is obligatory for all Language Centre courses. Please observe the registration deadlines listed on the Language Centre website.

University Sport Centre

Opportunities to play more than 80 different sports are available at the Zentrum für Hochschulsport (University Sport Centre). The majority of sports are organized as leisure activities. Registration is not normally required and most activities are offered free of charge (exceptions will be clearly marked). The Centre's program changes every semester and the current program can be found on the Centre's website or in the Centre itself.

Intercultural Tandem

The institute for multiphase processes offers the chance to take part in an intercultural tandem project (Ik tandem) to international students. During Ik tandem students will be supported by German citizens to deepen their understanding of the German language and thereby improve their school performance. Furthermore, the participants in the emerging tandem-partnerships will gain insights in another culture and new friendships can be formed.

Working as a Research Assistant at the Faculty

The 18 institutes of the Faculty are always looking for research assistants and offer quite attractive jobs. You can gain experience in your field of interest and earn some funding for your studies. You will find job offers at Schwarzen Brett Maschinenbau (SBMB) and on the website of the Hanover Centre for Production Technology (PZH).

Student Housing

You can contact the Studentenwerk Hannover (Student Services Organisation Hanover) if you are looking for accommodation. The Studentenwerk Hannover also provides information on the following topics: rent, types of housing, residential areas und room sizes. 

Please note that the demand on housing options is especially high during the winter semester, therefore it could be possible that a room will not be immediately available.
