Mechatronics, B. Sc.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Leibniz University Hannover jointly offer the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in Mechatronics. The faculties have had teaching experience in the field of mechatronics since the beginning of the 1990s through an interdisciplinary range of courses. The Hannover Centre for Mechatronics (MZH) is an interdisciplinary association of institutes of these faculties. One of the main fields of work of the MZH is the development and application of autonomous and mobile service robots. Further focal points of the MZH are medical technology, production engineering and vehicle mechatronics.

The Bachelor Mechatronics program is supervised by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

What can you expect during your studies?

The first three semesters of your studies are largely compatible with the Bachelor's programs in mechanical and electrical engineering. In the following three semesters you have the opportunity to specialize by choosing different specializations. For example, the modules Information and Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Development and Design of Mechatronic Systems are available to you.

Duration and conclusion

As a rule, the course of study takes 6 semesters. After passing the bachelor thesis you will receive the degree Bachelor of Science.

Apply at the Leibniz University of Hannover.

Areas of activity

Your career prospects with a Bachelor's degree in mechatronics are extremely good. You will be employed wherever you can increase the overall functionality of a system by linking the sub-disciplines. This means that you can work in fields such as the automotive and aviation industries, mechanical engineering or medical technology. In addition, you can specialize further by pursuing a subsequent master's degree.
