Master’s Teacher Training Course for Technical Education for Engineers, M. Ed.

(LBS-SprintING)

The course prepares students for the field of activity of a teacher at vocational subject (electrical engineering or metal technology) as well as for a teaching subject (mathematics, physics, politics, sport or Protestant religion). In the course of studies at Leibniz University Hannover, competence in a vocational and buisness education are developed. Completion of the Master's degree course in Teaching at Vocational Schools for Engineers entitles the holder to take up preparatory service for the teaching profession at vocational schools. 

What can you expect during your studies?

Parallel to this, from the 1st to the 4th semester, students study the vocational specialisation, the teaching subject and vocational and business education. The aim of the course is to acquire the necessary skills for working as a teacher at vocational schools. You will study how teaching and learning processes are planned and how they are to be organised, reflected and evaluated.

The study programme of the participating professional field of metal technology focuses on the professional scientific consolidation of their engineering knowledge and skills and the development of a didactic expertise. In specialized internships (six weeks in total) at vocational schools, teaching/learning arrangements developed in courses are tested and analyzed for teaching purposes.

Duration and completion

As a rule, the course of study takes 4 semesters. After passing the master thesis you will receive the degree Master of Education.

Areas of activity

The degree course prepares students for a career as a teacher at vocational schools or at other schools in the upper secondary school sector. Furthermore, employment in the field of vocational training research, as a vocational pedagogue in the field of in-company training, with chambers, associations or the teaching materials industry is possible.

The degree Master of Education entitles the holder to take up doctoral studies.
