Power Engineering, M. Sc.

The Master of Power Engineering is an interdisciplinary course of studies of the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. The course lasts four semesters and leads to a specialization in the field of power engineering. The first three semesters are filled with courses on topics such as high voltage engineering, energy supply or fluid mechanics. Several elective areas encourage the individual specialization of the student. In the fourth semester the master thesis is written.

What can you expect during your studies?

Information about the contents of the Master's program in Power Engineering can be found on the homepage of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Furthermore, you can find further information in the module plan.

Duration and completion

As a rule, the course of study takes 4 semesters. After passing the master thesis you will receive the degree Master of Science.

Areas of activity

Graduates with a Master of Science degree in energy technology take on leading positions in globally active companies in the fields of energy supply, component manufacturing such as turbine and generator construction or power plant and plant engineering. They also deal with issues relating to building energy and energy management topics.

You can find concrete entry opportunities and career examples under field reports.

The Master of Science degree entitles the holder to take up doctoral studies.
